"Objectified" - oh yes!

Hello All,

As some of you might know, the Gary Hustwit Design documentary film
"Objectified" will be coming to Denver this April, 27, 2009. This
event will be at the Mayan Theatre for one night only! Gary has asked
if IDSArm would sponsor this event along side with AIGA and ADC
Members. This will be a great opportunity to network for members and
non-members.

Those who are paid up IDSA members/students will be entitled to a
$5.00 discount for this showing. Normal price is $20.00 per. Tickets
can only be purchased on http://www.objectifiedfilm.com/special-screening-in-denver/
website. It is a first come first serve basis - so act on this
soon!!!!

This is a GREAT opportunity to support the efforts of Gary and his
interpretation of Industrial Design and it's effects/processes on
visible and non-visible levels. Also, after the showing there will be
a Q&A session. Please see http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/linda-tischler/design-times/new-design-film-sickens-inspires
for a write up for more information.

If you miss this event... no worries, the DVD will be out this summer
some time. However, to miss out on discussing point blank our
profession with Gary would be a bummer! : (

Thank you all in advance for supporting this event! Please get the
word out!

Design Wisdom From UTS Grads

  1. It’s called referencing, NOT copying!
  2. Whoever says being pretty is not a function?
  3. Good artists copy, great artists steal
  4. [Insert buzzword] is the new black
  5. If you can’t hide it, make a feature of it
  6. If you cannot use it, then call it art
  7. Simple is hard
  8. Power is nothing without ctrl-z
  9. Live trace is for cheaters
  10. Measure twice, cut once
  11. Form follow function
  12. Don’t try to be original, just try to be good
  13. Be brave enough to live creatively
  14. Design is in everything we make, but also between those things
